Travel from Melbourne by V/Line train to Benalla, where our private minibus will meet you and bring you directly to Samaria Rose Farm.

Visit us at one of the most beautiful times of the year, when approximately 2,000 Damask roses are in bloom during their very short 2–3 week flowering season.

A Very Special Time to Visit the Farm

Our approximately 2,000 Damask roses bloom for only around 2–3 weeks each year.

Samaria Rose Farm opens to the public for only two Open Farm Days during the rose season — Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November.

It is a beautiful opportunity to visit the farm during this very short flowering season, walk amongst the roses, take photographs, experience the distillation process and enjoy time on the farm.

Damask rose is often known as the Queen of Roses and has been treasured for centuries for its beautiful fragrance and use in perfumery and skincare.

We would be delighted to welcome you to our Australian Damask rose farm during this very special time of year.

Your Day Trip from Melbourne

V/Line Train : You need book own your ticket ( read below important information)

Southern Cross Station — 7:07am departure
Benalla Station — 9:24am arrival

Our private minibus will meet the group at Benalla Station and bring you to Samaria Rose Farm.

Each minibus carries a maximum of 13 passengers.

If booking numbers are higher, we may be able to arrange an additional second minibus transfer.

Final transport arrangements will be confirmed with booked families before the event.

At Samaria Rose Farm

Once you arrive, you will have time to enjoy the farm, our rose field, workshop, café and farm shop.

Mini Damask Rose Water Workshop

Experience traditional steam distillation using freshly hand-picked Damask roses from our 2026 harvest.

You will learn how our roses are grown, hand-picked and distilled on the farm, and see how the fresh flowers are transformed into pure Damask Rose Water.

Workshop duration is approximately 45–60 minutes.

Each participant will take home:

30ml freshly distilled Damask Rose Water

plus a small Damask rose petal potpourri.

Explore & Relax at the Farm

Take your time walking through our field of approximately 2,000 Damask roses, enjoying their fragrance and taking photographs during this very short flowering season.

You are welcome to explore the farm at your own pace and enjoy our café and farm shop.

Our farm café will offer homemade light meals, sweet treats and drinks, using ingredients harvested from our farm and locally sourced produce wherever possible.

Food and drinks are not included in the package price.

Return to Melbourne

We plan to leave Samaria Rose Farm at approximately 1:30pm for Benalla Station.

Benalla Station — 2:09pm departure
Southern Cross Station — 4:33pm arrival

This makes it possible to enjoy a beautiful country rose farm experience and return to Melbourne the same afternoon.

V/Line Tickets — Important Information

V/Line train travel between Melbourne and Benalla is not included in the package price. Guests are responsible for arranging their own V/Line travel.

Public transport in Victoria is currently half price until 1 January 2027.

Based on current fares as of September 2026:

Adult Full Fare — up to $4 for the day on weekends
Ages 5–17 — FREE with a valid Youth myki
Children aged 4 and under — FREE and do not require a myki

Youth myki holders can obtain a free V/Line ticket for long-distance Victorian services. Please arrange your V/Line ticket before travelling. 

V/Line timetables and fares can change, so please check the latest information before your travel date.

These services are currently scheduled for both Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November 2026.

Booking & Cancellation Policy

Minimum Numbers

This Rose Farm Day Trip Package requires a minimum of 13 paid participants to proceed.

If the minimum number is not reached and Samaria Rose Farm needs to cancel the day trip package, guests will receive a full refund of the package price.

Customer Cancellations

Please book carefully, as places are limited and private minibus transport is arranged in advance based on confirmed bookings.

If you are unable to attend due to illness, a change of plans or other personal circumstances, your booking is non-refundable. However, the value of your booking will be provided as Samaria Rose Farm credit to use towards a future workshop or purchase.

No refund or credit is available for a no-show or for missing the nominated V/Line service due to arriving late.

If Your V/Line Service Is Cancelled

If the nominated V/Line service from Southern Cross to Benalla is officially cancelled by V/Line and there is no suitable replacement service that allows you to arrive in time for the day trip, we will refund your Rose Farm Day Trip Package payment, less $20 per ticket.

The $20 per ticket is retained as a booking commitment to secure your place for the private minibus transfer and workshop.

This special refund applies only when the nominated V/Line service is cancelled by V/Line. It does not apply to delays, missed trains, late arrival or personal changes of plans.
